Open Studio Wet Felting workshop

In this two part class, you will experiment with your own design! You can follow one of the examples of an ocean or beach, or bring a picture (send it ahead) and create an ocean/ beach landscape close to your heart! … The methods of both needle felting and wet felting will be used.

Students will get to explore many different techniques while being creative with color and texture. The possibilities with fiber are endless!

Class 1# learn the art of Wet Felting  and create your base painting

Class 2 # embellish and felt with needle felted wool nd various mixed media details to finish your piece

Rachel Benson

Rachel Benson is a fiber artist working primarily with needle felting and other media to create whimsical images of nature, both realistic and abstract. Rachel studied Fine Arts and Technical Theater in college and is currently a freelance artist and art teacher. She shares her love of art through teaching, commissions, and selling her work at craft fairs and galleries. She is currently represented by Fruitlands Museum Store, Periwinkle Glassworks and the Hollis Art Space. She has been teaching art classes for the last 7 years in her own private business, The Fiber Web along with the following venues: Fivesparks, Wild Salamander, Maker Farm, Colorful and Periwinkle Glassworks, along with workshops at many public libraries and community centers. She is passionate about creating and encouraging students to experiment, play, invent, and focus on the journey of art making rather than the final outcome.
